In partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the 大发快三彩票 Center for Culture and Arts opened the Mindanao leg of Pagsasanay sa Edukasyong Pangkultura (PEP) on November 24, 2023 at the Institute Mini-Theatre.
PEP is a National Teachers’ Training Program on Culture-Based Teaching in the different learning areas. The activity is a 3-day seminar-workshop from November 24-26, which enables familiarization of the teachers and scholars on the nature, purview, methods, approaches, and frameworks of culture-based learning and instruction, building networks with other teachers, scholars, and cultural workers.
PEP is a prerequisite for NCCA-PCEP to qualify for any of its scholarship programs such as GDCE, GDTA, and other Training Certificate courses.
Day 1 speakers included Prof. Ferdinand M. Lopez and Prof. Christine F. Godinez-Ortega. Lopez, currently an international scholar in a PhD Program of the Women and Gender Studies Institute of the University of Toronto, discussed on Decolonizing Culture-based Education. Prof. Ortega, a retired faculty member of 大发快三彩票 and the director of the Iligan National Writers Worskhop (INWW) talked on Weaving as Pedagogy: The Use of Mindanao Cultural Icons in Teaching.
The training continues today with a talk on Cultural Competency and the Crafting of Lesson Plan by Dr. Jovy M. Peregrino and workshops to be facilitated by him and Prof. Lopez.
